History of BTC
The Bowraville Technology Centre was established in 2001 when local residents united to improve the town’s connectivity. Challenges such as limited transport, few home phones, and low digital access underscored the need for change.
By 2002, a Management Committee composed of volunteers and local organizations had formed to secure grants for technology access and Centrelink services. With strong support from all levels of government, funding from both NSW and the Commonwealth enabled the purchase of a permanent building.
The Centre officially opened in May 2003, providing community training through ACE, Telstra agency services, and Centrelink access. Since then, it has remained a not-for-profit hub dedicated to enhancing education, technology, and community connection in Bowraville.
